Consul-General Dr Ruan Zongze gives a Lecture at Australian Institute of International Affairs Queensland Branch

On 5 December 2023, Consul-General Dr Ruan Zongzegives a lecture at Australian Institute of International AffairsQueensland Branch (AIIA QLD)on the theme of What China Wants. Diana McCluskey,vice presidentof AIIA QLD and Mr Carl Hinze from Holding Redlichhost the event. Deputy Consul-General Ms Li Suyun,representatives from Queensland Consular Corps and publicwere present.

    Dr Ruan introduced five features of Chinese modernization. He said, China creatively puts forward Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative and Global Civilization Initiative. Over the past 10 years, the "Belt and Road Initiative" has effectively promoted the interconnection, win-win cooperation of many countries in the world. China commits to advancing high-level opening-up. Prime Minister Albanese's visit to China writes a new chapter of China-Australia relations. We should seize the opportunity to promote pragmatic cooperation in various fields.

    Dr Ruan also answered questions on Chinese foreign policy, the pragmatic cooperation between China and Australia and China's role as a major country in the fields of climate change and regional conflicts.
