On May 22nd , Chinese Consul-General in Brisbane Dr RUAN Zongze met with Mayor Darren Power of Logan. Chief of staff to the Mayor Zoe Krieg, Deputy Consul-General Ms LI Suyun and colleagues were present.

Mayor Power took Dr Ruan on a tour of Australia’s first biosolids gasification facility at Loganholme Wastewater Treatment Plant, which is an innovative facility that can transform biosolids into renewable energy and a sustainable product called biochar for agriculture, composting, construction and other industries.

Dr Ruan expressed his appreciation for the exploration and application of environmental protection and renewable energy transformation in Logan City, and introduced the concept, practice and effect of green development emphasized by China’s modernization. Dr Ruan said, China will carry out more international cooperation and make contributions to global sustainable development. We treasure our friendship with Australia, Queensland and Logan and hope to promote people-to-people and local exchanges between us.

Mayor Power expressed his expectation to re-establish personnel exchanges and economic and trade cooperation with China, especially with its sister city Suzhou, which was interrupted by the COVID-19 epidemic.
