On 27th October, Consul-General Dr RUAN Zongze met with the Pro Vice Chancellor of Griffith University Professor Caitlin Byrne and exchanged views on China-Australia, China-Queensland relations, cultural exchanges and education cooperation.

Dr Ruan said, the key to understand China is understanding Communist Party of China rightly. The recently concluded 20th National Congress of CPC has charted the missions and tasks of the Party on the new journey of the new era to advance the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts through a Chinese path to modernization, and firmly expand high-level opening-up. This will bring certainties to this world and new opportunities to countries worldwide including Australia.

Professor Byrne said, the practical cooperation between Australia and China is fruitful, and is embracing great potential in new areas including coping with climate change. Chinese students are an important part of Griffith University’s multiculturalism. The university has also established extensive cooperation with Chinese partners. We look forward to keeping contacts with the Consulate-General and Chinese counterparts.

Dr Anna Kwek, Acting Director of Griffith Business School and Professor Ian Hall, Acting Director of Griffith Asia Institute attended the meeting.
