On 16th October, Consul-General Dr RUAN Zongze was invited to attend and remark at the opening ceremony of the 20th Brisbane Chinese Culture and Arts Festival.

Dr Ruan said, the grand opening of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China today will draw a blueprint for China’s future development, and add certainty to an uncertain world. The Brisbane Chinese Culture and Arts Festival has enriched Australian multiculturalism and enhanced mutual understanding between the east and west. This year marks the 73rd anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and 50th anniversary of China-Australia diplomatic ties. Our long friendship has brought benefits to the people of both countries. I believe this festival will further promote the cultural exchanges and friendship between the peoples.

The Brisbane Chinese Culture and Arts Festival is a large cultural performance held by the Mainland Chinese Society Queensland. This year the festival themed on Melody in Harmony. Chinese and Australian artists brought to stage the folk dances, opera excerpts, string concertos and other brilliant shows. Federal member Mr Graham Perrett MP, Cr Steven Huang, representative of Lord Mayor of Brisbane, Mr CHEN Fan, President of Mainland Chinese Society Queensland watched the performances with thousands of local audiences
