Consul-General Dr Ruan Zongze meets with Deputy Director General, Science Division, Department of Environment and Science, Queensland Government Dr Mark Jacobs

On August 15th, Consul-General Dr Ruan Zongze met with Dr Mark Jacobs, Deputy Director General, Science Division, Department of Environment and Science, Queensland Government.

Dr Ruan Zongze said this year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Australia. The Sino-Australia relationship is facing new opportunities. In recent years, scientific and technological cooperation and exchanges between the two countries continue to develop in various fields. China and Australia share a common goal in dealing with climate change and green development strategy. The key to sound relations between states lies in amity between the peoples. My colleagues and I from Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Brisbane will continue to working for the benefit of the two peoples.

Dr Mark Jacobs welcomed Dr Ruan to take the post and said the Australia-China bilateral relationship is based on mutual respect, strong economy and trade complementarities. The Queensland government maintains cooperation with Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China, Chinese Academy of Sciences and many local governments in China. The Queensland universities have extensive collaboration with Chinese universities, research institutions and industry companies. The Queensland Government seeks opportunities in continuous collaboration with the Chinese counterpart in the future.

Dr Julia Playford, Executive Director, Ms Maggie Gong, Manager, Science Partnerships and Development, Department of Environment and Science, Queensland Government, Mr Wang Jingwei, Consul for Science and Technology from the Consulate-General attended the meeting.
