On 24 April,2025, Consul-General of the People’s Republic of China in Brisbane Dr Ruan Zongze visited the city of Mackay and met with Mayor Greg Williamson. Vice Consul Sun Ruoxi, Vice Consul Li Ze were present.
Dr RUAN said China’s unwavering commitment to opening up, reaffirming its strong support for free trade and the multilateral trading system. He emphasized that China aims to achieve shared growth and mutual benefit with all nations. Highlighting China’s great market potential, economic resilience, and long-term positive development outlook, he expressed hope that Mackay would continue to play a constructive role in advancing mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Queensland.
Mayor Williamson warmly welcomed the Consul- General to Mackay. He reaffirmed the city’s dedication to deepening collaboration with China and to fostering the development of the friendly partnership between Queensland and China.
