On 7 July 2024, Chinese Deputy Consul-General in Brisbane Yang Chenqi and his colleagues attended the celebration event of China Running Team in the Gold Coast Marathon.

In his address to the event, Mr Yang expressed warm welcome and congratulations to the Chinese runner delegation on behalf of the Consulate-General. He commented each one of the Chinese runner has demonstrated immerse dedication, vigorous training and unwaving determination, which is a testament to the global appeal of the Marathon and the strengthened bonds between China and Australia. He said that the Gold Coast city is known for its beautiful scenery and multicultural community, and hoped that Chinese runners may have good memories and make like-minded friends through this competition. He welcomes more Chinese runners to step onto the track of the Gold Coast Marathon next year so that to bring more vitality to sports and tourism exchanges and cooperation between China and Queensland.

Mr Paul Donovan, Honorary Chairman of the Gold Coast Marathon, Mr Jason Lucas, International Marketing Director of the Experience Gold Coast, representatives of Beijing Century Sports, China Southern Airlines, Xtep China, ICBC and Chinese runners attended the event.
